Specification materials available now for first formaldehyde-free light density mineral wool insulation in North America
Owens Corning announced plans to introduce formaldehyde-free Thermafiber
®
light density mineral wool insulation solutions during the American
Institute of Architects (AIA) Conference on Architecture 2017 in
Orlando, Florida. As the first and only formaldehyde-free mineral wool
insulation in North America, Thermafiber® mineral wool
insulation solutions represent a breakthrough for architects, specifiers
and contractors interested in achieving green building standards.
Thermafiber® SAFB™ (Sound Attenuation Fire
Blankets) is available for specification now and will be in the market
later this year. Thermafiber® UltraBatt™ will quickly follow
in a series of formaldehyde-free Thermafiber® mineral wool
insulation solutions offered by Owens Corning.
“Our introduction of the first North American formaldehyde-free mineral
wool solutions reflects our continuous investment into building science
expertise, technical resources, and product innovation,” said Todd
Fister, vice president of insulation strategic marketing. “Remaining
true to the brand’s history as an industry pioneer, the launch of
formaldehyde-free Thermafiber® mineral wool insulation
coupled with our investment in a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility
in Joplin, Missouri strengthens our impressive portfolio of product
solutions and our commitment to the industry.”
Based upon their fire resistance and performance properties, Thermafiber®
mineral wool insulation products have been installed in eight of the 20
tallest buildings in the world including the record-breaking Burj
Khalifa tower in Dubai, U.A.E. In addition to the new
formaldehyde-free offerings, Thermafiber® mineral wool
insulation also contributes to credits in green building programs and
has a minimum 70 percent recycled content.
From the formaldehyde-free Thermafiber® mineral wool
insulation product innovation to the customizable Owens Corning® Enclosure
Solutions systemization approach, Owens Corning Insulating Systems
delivers building science expertise to help architects, specifiers, and
